Yes! I absolutely enjoy seeing non-Christian people as well!
I strive to be a therapist that is “real” and meets people where they are. I use plain language and simple examples. I encourage people to be themselves and not put a “front.” With that said, I do not wear literal or figurative suits into sessions. I take pride in honoring people’s confidentially and admiring their courage to seek help.
My top niche is Christian Counseling: Christians, Pastors, ministry leaders, former ones. I am NOT a Pastor; as a therapist, I can use your spirituality to complement your growth. Expect a professional Psychotherapist who is well-versed in Christian values and can integrate this in a balanced way.
Specializations:
Faith: Christian Counseling, Spiritual Issues, Religious Anxiety, Spiritual Burnout, Spiritual Confusion, Spiritual Abuse, Faith Deconstruction
General: Panic Attacks, Generalized Anxiety, Depression, Pornography Addiction, College Issues
Relationship: Premarital Counseling, Marital Enrichment, Communication Growth, Gottman Couples Counseling
Identity: Multicultural Issues, Racial/Ethnic Identity
Communication: Social Support growth, Leadership Development
Experience
Being that I have gone through an interesting life, I try my best to identify with your situation. I will walk right beside you, wherever you are, in a non-judgmental and supporting way.
Throughout college, I worked with mental health clients in supported housing. Before becoming a Psychotherapist, I was a university administrator who led a multicultural leadership program. It was there that God showed me the ability and desire to lead young men. In the past, I have served both as a youth and college minister. For a period, I also served with the Department of Homeland Security as a US Citizenship and Immigration Services Asylum Officer.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, learning about cultures, watching criminal procedural and comedy shows, trying new foods, watching martial arts, and spending time with my family and friends.
Approach
I maintain a balance between spirituality and mind. Too many times I have witnessed the harm of those that take extreme approaches. I strive to be “real” with the client and meet them where they are. I use plain language and simple examples. I encourage the client to be themselves and not put a “front.” With that said, I do not wear literal or figurative suits into sessions.
I use an array of counseling methodologies. I have received training in various secular and Christian venues, including Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.
